Make your kitchen Instagram ready

1. Clear those surfaces. Yes we know that no one actually lives like that but if you want a beautiful finish you need to get rid of yesterday’s unopened post.

2. Get some props. A magazine, an elegant chopping board with some fruit like lemons or limes (which also adds a pop of colour). Place them in the shot. This helps the viewer to visualise themselves in the kitchen.

3. Get some close ups. Photos are wonderful at highlighting textures – like the grain in the wood, the pattern in the brass, the colours in granite. Get creative with this.

4. Keep the lens straight. If you’re using your phone (which most of us do) use the grid function to make sure you are completely straight with the shot.

5. Make the most of symmetry. Use natural borders like hanging lights, doorways, or arches in the ceiling. The kitchen is jam-packed with angles to align with so make the most of them.
